Drunk driving is a rising problem in Singapore. With numbers of cases increase throughout the year, more citizens are calling for stiffer penalty to the existing penalty to curb motorist from committing the offence.

Even with the existing penalty, it seems that motorist are still committing this selfish act and endangering the life of others, It will be in no time, the government will impose a tougher penalty for any drunk driving offenders even if it is their first time offense.

Some has been suggesting a life time ban and mandatory jail term of at least one year for any offender and if the number of offenders don’t go down any soon, we can see this penalty going into effect.

It could be very harsh but it’s for the better of everybody especially for other road users and also the pedestrians.

Most of the accident s involving drunk driving usually involves other road users or even pedestrians and causing even death to other life.

If it has to go down to vote, I personally is in favor of a tougher penalties to curb drunk driving.

This is the only way to show the motorist that you should not gamble on other people’s life by drunk driving.

Be a responsible driver and if you drink, please don’t drive. Take on the public transport or get other people to drive you. There has been a lot of campaign going on here to show motorist the effect of drunk driving and this is very important as it can cause other road users their life.
